
Imphal, Oct 11: In a major security push in the Northeast, formations under the Spear Corps, in coordination with Manipur Police, apprehended an active cadre of a proscribed organisation in Imphal East district of Manipur and recovered three weapons, ammunition and other stores.
In a separate operation, Assam Rifles personnel under the Spear Corps apprehended a Myanmar national allegedly attempting to enter India illegally in Mizoram’s Champhai district. One weapon and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
According to the operational details, the operation in Manipur was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs. The joint team apprehended the suspected cadre and recovered three weapons, ammunition and other stores during the operation.
The coordinated action reflects the continued efforts of security forces and state police to identify and apprehend individuals associated with proscribed organisations and prevent the movement of illegal arms and ammunition in the region.
In the separate operation in Champhai district, Assam Rifles personnel intercepted the Myanmar national while he was allegedly attempting to cross into Indian territory illegally. The recovery of a weapon and ammunition highlighted the security challenges along the international border.
