Taksing, Jan 5: In a significant effort to bolster civil-military cooperation and provide essential facilities to remote communities, troops of the Indian Army under SpearCorps have constructed a log hut equipped with a water storage facility at Ojugo, Taksing, in Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The project, executed under the Indian Army’s flagship initiative Operation Sadbhavana, aims to improve living conditions in hard-to-reach regions by ensuring access to basic amenities such as shelter and safe water. The log hut, built using locally available timber and sustainable materials, provides a communal space for villagers, graziers, and travelers, while the integrated water storage system helps the community store and access potable water efficiently.
Army officials highlighted that such initiatives strengthen bonds between the armed forces and local populations, while also addressing the infrastructural challenges faced by villagers in remote and inaccessible areas. The facility is expected to benefit local communities by supporting grazing activities, small gatherings, and temporary shelter during harsh weather conditions, in addition to improving access to water resources.
Villagers expressed gratitude to the SpearCorps personnel for their timely support, noting that the hut and water facility would ease daily hardships and contribute to the overall development of the region. This initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to community welfare, promoting goodwill, and enhancing the quality of life in Arunachal Pradesh’s far-flung areas.
Operation Sadbhavana has been instrumental across the region in implementing projects related to education, health, infrastructure, and livelihood support, demonstrating the Army’s role as a partner in development alongside its core security responsibilities.
