Police on Thursday carried out city-wide inspections of Madrassas and Masjids across Srinagar to curb unlawful, radical, and conspiratorial activities, officials said.
A police spokesperson said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror support networks, prevent anti-national acts, and strengthen de-radicalization initiatives. Search teams, accompanied by Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses, inspected multiple premises, examining digital devices, documents, and other materials for evidence linked to radical or terror-related activities.
“These inspections are aimed at safeguarding public order and national security while following strict legal procedures to ensure transparency and accountability,” the spokesperson added. He reaffirmed that such operations will continue wherever credible intelligence indicates potential threats.
