Srinagar shops reopen after weekend lockdown

Authorities said business activities resumed in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley on Monday after remaining shut for two days during the weekend lockdown.
The lockdown has been imposed in view of surging Covid-19 cases and all the transport activities, including the movement of passenger vehicles, was suspended also resumed movement across the valley after remaining suspended for two days.
The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir imposed weekend lockdown on Saturday to contain the Covid surge. Shopkeepers here were seen following Covid Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) wearing face masks and using sanitizers.
There was fewer movements in business hubs of Lal Chowk, Amirakada and Hari Singh High Street even though all shops and businesses establishments were open.
Repeated public announcements were made in Lal Chowk, Amirakadal, Budshah Chowk and Residency Road areas asking people to wear face masks and maintain Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
Police posts have been put up across the city to check people not adhering Covid protocols.
