Srinagar, Sep 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today attended the Grand Finale of the District Administration’s Under-19 Football Rolling Trophy-2026 at the Rugby Field, Poloview, as apart of the District Administration’s commitment to creating better opportunities for youth to excel in different sporting and art disciplines.

The event was organised by the District Youth Services & Sports Office in collaboration with the District Administration Srinagar, with the aim of promoting sports and encouraging greater participation of youth in sporting activities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, who was the Chief Guest, underlined the efforts of the District Youth Services & Sports Office and the District Administration for providing young sportspersons with opportunities to showcase their talent and develop a competitive spirit.
The DC said that the District Administration Srinagar has initiated the Rolling Trophy Championship across the District to nurture the talent of youth by organising drawing, painting and singing competitions, seminars and debates, besides football, cricket and other sport competitions, thereby providing young people with a platform to showcase and develop their abilities.
The DC urged the youth, particularly the participating athletes, to take maximum part in sporting events and desist from involvement in any kind of drug-related activity. He emphasised the importance of sports in fostering discipline, brotherhood, teamwork, leadership and a healthy lifestyle among youth.
The DC congratulated all the teams and participating players for their performances and encouraged young athletes to pursue sports with dedication and discipline. He also appreciated the Officials, Coaches and organisers for their contribution towards the successful conduct of the tournament.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also administered an oath to the participating athletes under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, urging them to contribute towards building a drug-free society.
As many as 400 athletes from different schools of the district participated in the Football Rolling Trophy-2026. The final match was played between Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, and Sri Pratap Model Higher Secondary School. Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar, emerged victorious in the final. Sheikh Arshan Asif of Boys Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Nagar Was adjudged as player of the tournament.
Later, the DC distributed prizes among the winning and runners-up teams as well as participating players who had enthusiastically taken part in the league matches.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Aadil Fareed, IAS Probationer Aakash Garg, IAS Probationer Sai Kiran, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Ghulam Hassan, and other senior officers and officials were present at the grand finale, besides witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, Officials and sports lovers, creating an energetic sporting atmosphere at the venue.
