
The District Youth Services and Sports Office Samba, operating under the distinguished guidance of Director General Anuradha Gupta has launched a comprehensive Inter-Zonal District Level multi-sport tournament featuring Badminton, Yoga, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Judo, Chess and Cricket competitions for Under-19 boys and girls.
The prestigious tournament which started yesterday has been meticulously organized across the Indoor Sports Stadium and Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium, representing a strategic initiative to harness youthful energy through competitive sports while simultaneously addressing critical social challenges facing contemporary society.
On the second day, Manager Sports Council Samba, Dalbir Kumar Mehta along with other distinguished officials witnessed an exceptional display of athletic prowess and competitive spirit from over 211 dedicated participants representing five zones across Samba district, despite challenging hot climate conditions that tested both physical endurance and mental resilience. The tournament has attracted substantial participation across diverse sporting disciplines with 53 participants each in boys’ and girls’ Kho-Kho categories, 38 in Kabaddi, 26 in Cricket, 20 in Badminton, 13 in Yoga, 7 in Chess and 1 in Judo demonstrating the broad-based sporting interest and talent pool available within the district’s youth demographic.
A notable feature of this tournament has been the administration of a comprehensive pledge ceremony wherein all participants committed to increased sports participation while simultaneously vowing to abstain from drugs, effectively transforming the sporting event into a broader social movement for positive youth engagement.
