The unfortunate and dastardly killing of Sudhir Suri President of Shiv Sena (Taksali) while he was taking part in a protest against sacrilege of a temple and against the management of Gopal Minder on Majitha Road in Amritsar the busiest place in the city .The murder of the Hindu leader is no less than a blot and stain on the face of much valued Punjabiyat which is the pride of every Punjabi irrespective of the religious affiliation. Punjabiyat is not only the language and pride on it but it stands for Hindu-Sikh-Muslim unity and the great cultural heritage of Punjab .The savage murderers have not only killed a leaders belonging to Hindu faith but have attacked age old culture of Punjab and in fact the well known Punjabiyat.
What made the killing particularly shocking is how it took place in broad daylight in front of several policemen? The murder took place in full public view in a crowded area in Amritsar in front of several policemen including a high-ranking police officer..Thus if a man provided Y category security is not safe in Punjab ,then then plight of the common man is anybodies guss.The Punjab government should not take the killing lightly but be serious about this crime and go to the root and conspiracy of the heinous killing. The main question that Punjab police needs to answer is –how was Suri murdered despite having so much security ?A facebook post has come up in which Canada –based gangster Lakhbir Singh Landa has purportedly claimed responsibility for the murder .
The killing of the Hindu leader rightly attracted condemnation from all political parties and the people alike .Such killings are unacceptable and as such should not take place at all. Sudhir a protected leader was murdered in broad day light in presence of police and this raises a big question mark on the law and order position of Punjab .When a person of Y category security is not safe in the state of Punjab ,it points to the fact that the security scenario in Punjab is worse and the tall claims of the AAP government are nothing but false and the people of the Punjab do not believe the government version of complete security and normalcy .
It is good that Sandeep Singh accused in the killing of Sudhir has been arrested and his licensed weapon was seized .The Khalistani connection of this high profile murder cannot be ruled out and somewhere the murder has been executed at instance of the Khalistani Goons residing in Canada .Sudhir has been raising voice against Sikh fundamentalists and thus was the eyesore of the radical Sikhs.It seems that the objective of Killing Sudhir is creating communal divide between the Hindus and Sikhs but the people of Punjab deserve praise and Kudos for maintaining calm and peace inspite of provocation .The AAP government of Bhagwant Mann is soft and lenient towards the radicalism and it does not like to annoy the Sikh radicals and thus the radical elements in Punjab feel encouraged and thus resort to anti national and anti human as well as anti social activities to show their ugly presence .The AAP government should crack on the radical elements so that they do not resort to abominable crimes and wanton killings of the innocent and patriotic people .Government of the day should shun the baggage of being soft towards the fundamentalists and radicals and should exert pressure on the anti national elements so that they abjure killings and extortions .The gangsters and rowdy elements are rooming freely and they indulge in wrong doings and cause loss of innocent human lives.AAP government needs to be hard on radicals and should break the back of radicalism in the state .
It is disturbing that the law and order situation is fast deteriorating in Punjab .There is threat and risk that the militancy of 1980’s should not revive and pollute the peaceful atmosphere of the state .There are sporadic attempts perhaps to revive the militancy again and bring Punjab back on the sad path of radicalism and fundamentalism .The former chief minister of Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh is right when he said that Punjab is a sensitive state and the government should deal with the state with utmost caution and care .Therefore the AAP government should deal with the volatile situation of the border state with due care and caution and crack the back of radicalism so that the militancy is not revived .It will be very bad for the people of the state who had faced great trauma and suffering due to militancy in the past and thousands of the innocent precious lives have been lost due to militancy .The common people of Punjab are against radicalism ,fundamentalism and revival of militancy and they like peace ,security and development .During the period of militancy in 1980’s the economy of the Punjab suffered a great setback and the people suffered great economic hardships besides the loss of innocent lives .
The revival of militancy in Punjab will be a black chapter in the history of the state and as such sincere and concerted efforts should be made to frustrate the evil designs of the radicals to revive militancy which had died death after great sacrifices and efforts .Therefore the AAP government and the people should guard against the tendencies of the radicalised youth to revive militancy which will be against the cultural ethos of Punjab and as such should be opposed tooth and nail by the people. A radical and fundamentalist Amritpal Singh who is also alleged to have conspired the killing of Suri has been arrested from Moga .However one thing is clear that Hindutva outfits are turning the heat on AAP government and demanding ’Strict action against Amritpal Singh .The search for a motive behind the killing of Sudhir is further complicated by a long list of enemies he had and controversies he had courted .There is a long list of controversies Suri has had ,it becomes all the more difficult to decode the motive behind the killing .The police will have to investigate the case fully and look to all the angles and conspiracies about the killing and come to conclusion and solve the murder .The fact that Suri was a Hindu leader and was against radicalism and fundamentalism and to be specific against Sikh Radicals is enough to come to the conclusion that Suri was killed for being a Hindu leader and for being against radicalism .In short it can be said that whosoever is involved in the murder of Sudhir Suri should be identified and speedy trial should be done and severe punishment should be awarded to the killers to instil confidence among the minorities in Punjab .Such barbaric killings should not be allowed to happen again to sock the land of composite culture. The people of Punjab have the responsibility to uphold much valued Punjabiyat for furthering Hindu-Sikh unity and communal harmony.
