Sunday Market remains open

 The traditional “Sunday Market” in Srinagar was abuzz with the shoppers thronging for the first time since the Covid-19 weekend lockdown restrictions on non-essentials were withdrawn by the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The road stretch from Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) , Residency road, Lal Chowk, Amirakadal, Hari Singh High Street and Batmaloo were filled with thousands of vendors who had put up their stalls with a variety of articles of daily use available.
Large number of people including men, women and children were seen making purchases in the “Sunday Market” of their choice which was open after four weeks of closure due to covid-19 restrictions on non essentials imposed by the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir government had imposed a weekend lockdown in the Union Territory on January 15 to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. However, following the decline in the Covid-19 positive cases it was withdrawn on February 6.
