J&K Tourism invites Indian team for celebrations in J&K

Tourism Department has invited Team India T20 World Cup champions to Jammu and Kashmir to continue the celebrations here.

Team India defeated South Africa in a thrilling T20 World Cup final at Barbados on Saturday.

“Congratulations to Team India on winning the T20 World Cup 2024”, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism posted on X (formerly twitter) on Sunday.

“We welcome our champions to visit Jammu and Kashmir to continue the celebrations! It would be an honour to host you in the Crown of Incredible India”, it said.

In a nail-biting final at the Kensington Oval on Saturday, India emerged victorious in T20 World Cup, defeating South Africa by a narrow margin of 7 runs.

This win ended a 17-year title drought for India in the T20 World Cup, marking a significant achievement for the team and their ardent supporters.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India posted an impressive total of 176/7 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Virat Kohli, who showcased his trademark resilience and class with a commanding 76 off 59 deliveries. His innings included 6 boundaries and 2 towering sixes, laying a solid foundation for India's innings.

South Africa's chase saw them finish at 169/8, falling just short of the target. Heinrich Klaasen played a valiant knock, scoring a rapid 52 off 27 balls, while Quinton de Kock contributed 39 runs off 31 balls. Despite their efforts, South Africa could not keep up with the required run rate, especially in the face of India's disciplined bowling attack.
