Srinagar, Sep 25: The ongoing construction of the Tangpora Bypass Flyover has become a major source of inconvenience for motorists and commuters, with traffic movement along the busy stretch increasingly affected by construction-related restrictions and congestion.

The under-construction flyover, intended to improve connectivity and ease traffic movement in the area once completed, is currently causing considerable disruption to daily commuters. Motorists navigating the stretch are frequently faced with slow-moving traffic, bottlenecks and delays, particularly during peak hours.
Commuters said the situation becomes more difficult when traffic volume increases, as vehicles are forced to negotiate narrowed or diverted portions of the road around the construction site. The movement of public transport vehicles and other commercial traffic further adds to the pressure on the available carriageway.
For residents and people travelling through the area regularly, the delays have become a daily challenge, affecting office-goers, students, traders and other commuters who depend on the route for routine travel.
Motorists have also raised concerns over the need for proper traffic management around the construction zone, including clear diversion plans, adequate signage, illumination and deployment of traffic personnel during busy hours.
While infrastructure projects inevitably cause temporary disruption, commuters have urged the concerned agencies and executing authorities to ensure that construction activity is managed in a manner that minimises inconvenience and maintains safe and smooth traffic movement.
They have also called for expediting the remaining construction work so that the flyover can be completed and opened to traffic at the earliest.
The Tangpora project is expected to improve traffic connectivity after completion, but commuters say better coordination between the executing agency and traffic authorities is essential during the construction phase to prevent the ongoing inconvenience from turning into a prolonged ordeal.
