The Colours of Creation

March 10, 2026 | A. R. Matahanji

Zameen pe rehmat ka sab se haseen roop hai aurat,

Insaniyat ki tahzeeb ka mehfooz dhoop hai aurat.
Woman is the most beautiful form of mercy on earth, She is the sunlight that protects the culture of humanity.
The timeless words of Shair-e-Mashriq, Sir Muhammad Iqbal (RA) beautifully capture the essence of womanhood:
“Wujood-e-Zan Se Hai Tasveer-e-Kainat Mein Rang,
Issi Ke Saaz Se Hai Zindagi Ka Souz-e-Darun.”
The picture that this world presents from woman gets its tints and scents, She is the lyre that can impart warmth and pathos to the human heart.
Every year on International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, the world pauses to honour the courage, resilience, and immeasurable contributions of women across every sphere of life. From nurturing families to shaping societies, from leading communities to transforming nations, women continue to be the quiet architects of progress and compassion.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2026 - “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” reminds us that the journey towards gender justice must be inclusive, meaningful, and sustained. It calls upon governments, institutions, civil society, and communities to ensure that every woman and girl, regardless of her background or circumstances, can live with dignity, opportunity, and freedom.
Women are the heartbeat of humanity. Their strength lies not only in their ability to endure adversity but also in their power to inspire change. In homes, classrooms, hospitals, offices, farms, and fields, women continue to lead silently yet profoundly. Their courage has rewritten history, their compassion has healed societies, and their determination continues to build a more equitable world.
In regions like Jammu and Kashmir, women have shown extraordinary resilience. Amid challenges and transitions, they have emerged as educators, social reformers, entrepreneurs, pilots, doctors and community leaders, uplifting families and strengthening the social fabric. Their stories of perseverance remind us that empowerment is not merely a slogan; it is a lived reality shaped through opportunity, education, and collective support.
Yet, the celebration of women must go beyond symbolic gestures. True tribute lies in ensuring safety, equal opportunities, education, healthcare, and leadership spaces for women and girls. It requires a commitment to dismantle stereotypes, challenge discrimination, and nurture an environment where every girl can dream without fear and achieve without barriers.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us remember that empowering women is not just a matter of justice, it is the foundation of sustainable development and social harmony. A society that respects and uplifts its women inevitably moves toward prosperity and peace.
On this meaningful day, let us reaffirm a shared pledge; to stand beside every woman who strives, every girl who dreams, and every voice that calls for equality.
Because when women rise, families flourish, communities strengthen, and the world itself becomes brighter.
Let this day be not only a celebration of women but a renewed commitment to building a future where every woman’s dignity, voice, and potential are cherished and protected.
Concluding, "the real power of a man is the size of the smile on the woman sitting next to him"
