Sant Kabir Jayanti is a yearly event that celebrates the birth anniversary of Kabir Das, who was a renowned poet ,saint and social reformer and lived in 15th century. Kabir Jayanti this year falls on June 11. According to the traditional Hindu calendar, the day falls on the full moon day of the Jyeshta month. Sant Kabir Das Jayanti is usually observed either in the month of May or in the month of June every year as per Gregorian calendar. The day is celebrated by all classes of people not only in India but also in other countries. The great poems and works of Kabir Das designate the coherence and immensity of the Supreme Being.

They followers of Kabirdas across the country spend the entire day in his commemoration. Many people like reading the great poems written by him. He showed interest in spirituality at an early age and called himself as a child of Lord Rama and Lord Allah. He was not interested in spiritual discernments. The great poet respected all religions of his time equally .
The Bhakti movement was highly influenced by his works .A few of his renowned writings consist of Anurag Sagar,Kabir Granthawali ,Bijak,Sakhi Granth etc .He established a spiritual community called Kabir Panth. Today, this community has a vast number of followers. Kabir Panth is the name of the spiritual community founded by Kabir Das like mentioned earlier. The followers of this community are referred to as Kabir Panthis ,who are scattered across the country .The community spreads the legacy of Kabir Das Besides ,the community of Sikhs will preach the supreme lessons of Bhagat Kabir Ji ,which is the name given to Kabir Das by Sikhs .Guru Arjan Dev ,the fifth guru of Sikhs ,collected the writings of the great poet and assimilated them into the scriptures of Sikhs . Kabir Jayanti celebrates the day Kabir was born. the full moon day of Jyesthta month of the Hindu calendar in 1398 AD .It is disputed as to how he appeared on Earth .Some believe that he took birth from Muslim parents ,while others insist that he himself appeared on a louts flower in lake Lahartara .In fact ,there is a Kabirpanth on the Lahartara lake today which reinforces this very belief .Kabir is said to have appeared on a louts flower in the year 1398 Samvat 1455, on the full moon day of Jyeshta month at the time of Brahmamuharta .Kabir is said to have come from Satlok by assuming the body of light and incarnated on a lotus flower .Rishi Ashtanand was the direct witness of this incident .
The anniversary is celebrated in India as a special Jayanti .It is celebrated in different parts of India .On this day ,his followers remember his teachings and recite his poems together .Many Bhandaras are also held throughout India by many Kabirpanthis .Kabir was above all a social reformer ,so much social work is also done by his followers on this day .As per the legends ,Kabir Das was born to Muslim parents in UP. Later ,at a very young age ,he turned to spirituality and referred himself as Allah’s as well as Lord Rama’s child .He accepted all religions and did not believe in any religious discrimination .
Furthermore ,he explained that there is a presence of same Supreme Being in all religions .He was a highly acclaimed poet of the 15the century and his writings significantly impacted the Bhakti movement .Some of his famous writings include Anurag Sagar, Kabir Granthawali,Bijak,Sakhi Granth,etc. Moreover he is also the founder of a religious community Kabir Panth and the members of this community are referred to as Kabir Panthis .Sant Kabir was admired by the people of all faiths and his lessons are still passed down from generations .Once Kabir Das reached an abode of God in Maghar close to Gorakhpur in 1518. Immediately a dispute began as both Hindus and Muslims wanted to perform final rites in their own way. Surprisingly, Kabir Das stood up and asked them to see beneath .His devotees found a beautiful array of flowers. His devotees and followers have become surprised .Hindus took the flowers to Varanasi and Muslims to Maghar.
Kabir was highly influenced by various incidents in his life .Many want to break his spiritual path ,therefore ,once he was taken to a courtesan .Similarly he was taken to also taken to the court of Skindar Lodhi after he was made to believe in the black magic .Gradually, he was made to leave the Varanasi in 1495 after which he never returned. During this whole period ,Kabir explored the entire North India and spread the message of oneness. During 15 the century ,he became popular for his mystical odes .He is best remembered for his one line replies ,when somebody has any query from him .It reflects his mature way of thinking and inimitable style. .Throughout his life ,he openly condemned temples and mosques and maintained that God is everywhere and exists in everyone. The followers of Sant Kabir ,dedicate the day of Kabir Jayanti completely in his remembrance .On the occasion of Kabir Jayanti ,they recite his poems and take lessons from his teachings .Get together and satsanghs are also arranged in many places.It is the day celebrated with full enthusiasm especially in Varanasi –the birthplace of Sant Kabir .
