Among Urdu and Gujarati poets, Harsh Brahm Bhatt has an important position. He served as an IAS officer in the Gujarat government for a long time. After an extension of two years, he retired as Additional Secretary to the Government of Gujarat in 2013. The Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Like other officers it is not said for you how many CMs you have worked under? Rather, it was said in Gujarat that how many CMs have worked under you, it was no less than an honor for you. Currently you are associated with Reliance Company.
Some time ago, I did an interview with him for Doordarshan Kendra Ahmedabad. When asked how did you get attracted to Urdu language and literature? He said that his father was associated with the railway department and in the railway colony of Ahmedabad where he lived, there were neighbors who knew and spoke Urdu. His childhood was spent with him, and thus he had the opportunity to speak and learn Urdu with him. His passion for poetry was born in his childhood and thus he began to write ghazals in both Urdu and Gujarati languages.
Harsh Brahmabhat is one of the important Gujarati poets. Several collections of Gujarati poetry have come out. Your ghazals have been taught in Gujarati textbooks for a long time. Gujarati literary competition exams also ask questions related to your poetry. This is no less than an honor. By now you have received all the major and important awards of Gujarat. This series is still going on.
So far six of your poetry collections have been published in Urdu. It is another matter that the eyes of Urdu critics did not fall on you. Several albums of his Urdu and Gujarati poetry have also come out. Famous Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has also lent his voice to your ghazals.
Apart from being a good poet, you are also an angelic person. In the literary atmosphere of Gujarat, this is acknowledged by all. The sweetness of your lips and tone during conversation captivates the heart. Despite the lavish employment, his poetry remained grounded in ground realities.
Harsh Brahmabhat's charm as a poet is that the poetic beauty of his words and their flow create a beautiful world of their own without cutting the banks of the river.
