Srinagar, July 18: At least three members of a family, including a couple and their young son, were injured—two of them critically, after a car and a gas truck collided near Parimpora in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.
According to a traffic department official, the accident occurred when a WagonR vehicle (Registration No: JK13C 8988), carrying the family from Charar-e-Sharief, Budgam, collided with an HP Gas truck (Registration No: JK05D 2955) at a busy stretch of the Parimpora junction.
The injured have been identified as Bilal Ahmad, son of Abdul Salaam Kumar, his wife Nusrat, and their son Hami, all hailing from Charar-e-Sharief in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“All three victims were immediately shifted to JVC Hospital in Bemina, where doctors confirmed that the condition of Bilal Ahmad and his wife is critical, while the child is reported to be stable but under observation,” the official added.
Local eyewitnesses reported that the impact of the collision was severe, with the front portion of the WagonR crumpled under the force. The HP gas truck driver has been detained by police, and a formal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the mishap.
Officials have not ruled out possibilities of overspeeding or negligence, and forensic examination of both vehicles is underway.
