Srinagar, September 7: Traffic Police Srinagar has imposed restrictions on several routes today as the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir opens at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).

The advisory comes into effect from 4 PM, when a large movement of guests, participants and invitees towards SKICC is expected.

General traffic will not be allowed on Gupkar Road between 4 PM and 7 PM. Only invitees, participants, VVIPs and festival staff will be permitted to use the route during this period.

At Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk, traffic heading towards SKICC and Nehru Park will also be restricted, except for hotel guests and local residents. Other vehicles heading towards Nishat will be diverted through Gupkar and Hazratbal.

Traffic approaching from the Nishat and Harwan side will similarly be diverted towards Hazratbal. Nishat-bound traffic will also be routed via Rainawari on the Badyari-Rainawari-Hazratbal-Nishat route.

The restrictions will remain in place from 4 PM to 7 PM or until the inauguration ceremony concludes.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed to take the shortest available route. Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and contact the Traffic Police Control Room at 103 for assistance.
