Two drug peddlers detained under PIT-NDPS in Handwara

Handwara, July 16: In its relentless drive against drug trafficking and under the policy of zero tolerance towards narcotics under ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan , Police in Handwara has achieved another significant milestone by securing detention orders under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act against two notorious drug peddlers involved in multiple NDPS cases.

The detained accused have been identified as Hilal Ahmad Tantray @Hilal Taki son of Mohammad Yousuf Tantray resident of Takiya, Langate and Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir resident of Ahgam, Zachaldara. Both the accused are habitual offenders with involvement in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act. Despite repeated legal action, they continued to indulge in illicit drug trafficking, posing a serious threat to society, particularly the youth.
After completing all legal formalities and obtaining the competent authority's approval, detention warrants under the PIT-NDPS Act were executed, and both accused have been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, to prevent them from engaging in further narcotics-related activities.
Police remains steadfast in its commitment to dismantle drug networks and ensure that habitual offenders face stringent legal consequences. The action reflects the department's continued resolve to eradicate the drug menace and safeguard the future of the youth. Police reiterates its appeal to the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing information related to drug trafficking.
