A group of university students on a trekking expedition visited the base camp of Sheep Husbandry Department at Butapathri, Baramulla where they received insightful briefings from veterinarians on duty to Highland pastures. Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad informed the students about Govt schemes like HADP, NLM ISDS, AHIDF, & PMFME explaining their application process, vast scope, and unique benefits. He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring equitable benefits for women and reserved classes.
Dr. Rayees Habib discussed how sheep farming could address unemployment issues and highlighted its significant contributions to the economy in developed countries. Dr. Ishfaq also shed light on the economic drain caused by mutton consumption in Kashmir and the need to stop this drain.
The students expressed their gratitude for the valuable information provided by the field veterinarians, appreciating the practical insights and knowledge shared during the visit.
