The annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint, Hazrat Syed Fateh Ali Shah (RA), was observed with deep spiritual devotion and religious fervour at the historic shrine located in Rellan Syedan, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.
Believed to be over three centuries old, the shrine holds profound spiritual significance in the Pir Panjal region and continues to draw devotees from across Jammu & Kashmir and neighbouring areas.
Hundreds of devotees from various faiths and backgrounds gathered to offer prayers, pay homage, and seek blessings on this spiritually enriching occasion. The Urs served as a celebration of peace, unity, and spiritual awakening—core principles of Hazrat Syed Fateh Ali Shah (RA)’s teachings.
The day-long programme included Quran recitations, soulful Naats, special prayers, and Sama’ (spiritual music) sessions, creating an atmosphere of divine reflection. The shrine was beautifully adorned, and Langar (community meals) was served to all, embodying the spirit of communal harmony.
The Urs was organized under the guidance of Alhaj Syed Zakir Hussain Shah, head of the Urs Committee, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the local administration, volunteers, and security personnel for ensuring the event's peaceful execution.
A symbolic highlight of the event was the offering of a Chadar at the shrine by Brigadier H.S. Dhillon, Commander 6 Sector RR (Potha), underscoring the respectful ties between security forces and local spiritual traditions.
Addressing the gathering, renowned educationist and retired principal Mussaraf Hussain Shah emphasized the timeless relevance of Hazrat Syed Fateh Ali Shah (RA)’s teachings. “In today’s world of growing unrest and division, it is vital for the youth to connect with the spiritual legacies of saints like him—who exemplified humility, God-consciousness, and compassion,” he said.
The celebration was not just a religious event but a reaffirmation of values—peace, brotherhood, and universal love—that transcend communal lines. The sacred grounds of Ziarat Sharief at Rellan Gohlad Balakote remain lit by the saint’s enduring spiritual presence.
Observed annually on June 25, the Urs commemorates a life dedicated to service, dignity, and enlightenment. The saint’s message of love, unity, service, and spiritual discipline continues to guide seekers of truth in an increasingly complex world.
