Urs of Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA) observed with fervor

Thousands of devotees joined the night-long prayers at the holy shrine of Sufi saint Sheikh Nooruddin Wali, also known as Alamdar-e-Kashmir and Nundreshi, at Charar-e-Sharief in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.
603 Annual Urs of Sufi saint Shaikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) popularly known as “Alamdare Kashmir” celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety all across the Kashmir valley on Sunday.
Thousands of devotees had gathered at the shrine for observing congregational night long prayers or “Shab Khawani” on Saturday during which special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of Kashmir valley.
People in other parts of the valley also celebrated the urs with religious fervour and gaiety.
Thousands of devotees from all parts of Jammu and Kashmir arrived at the shrine since yesterday morning to offer prayers at the holy shrine.
Jammu and Kashmir administration and the Waqf Board had made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the devotees. The administration has also set up medical facilities and police personnel were deployed in strength to manage the traffic on the occasion.
