Senior Hurriyat leader and Chairman of Kashmir Peoples Party, Dr. G M Hubi Saturday felicitated the people of India on conclusion of incident-free Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
In a statement, Dr Hubi urged India and Pakistan to engage with each other and settle their long pending disputes including the Kashmir dispute.
“Both the countries have made Kashmir's dividing line into a battle field. People on both sides are suffering, our peasants and school going children are being displaced.”
He said tons of iron and explosive is being pumped into mountains on both sides of LOC. “None has taken care of our sufferings till date. The time has come for India and Pakistan as both countries at present are run by decisively elected governments,” he said.
He said Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has already shown will to work for peace between the countries, which can be gathered from recent closure of offices of militant organizations which was the basic concern of India, he said.
"Time has once again provided an opportunity to prime minister of Pakistan to show statesmanship, by coming to India for participation in oath ceremony in the landslide victory of Modi."
"It will not only convey an important message to peace loving people across globe but will also add one more feather in his statesmanship," he added.
Dr Hubi also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during election campaign has not used Kashmir card for getting votes, but has said in a recent interview that Kashmir is a problem and late Vajpayee’s vision is a way to redress it.
