September 19, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, Sep 18: J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday visited the revered Dargah-e-Faiz Panah Mir Syed Taj-ud-Din Hamdani (RA) at Nowhatta and formally took over its administrative and management control on behalf of the Board.

Dr Andrabi paid obeisance at the shrine and was accompanied by Waqf Board Member Mohammad Syed Haqqani, Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Magistrate and Tehsildar of the J&K Waqf Board, besides other senior officers.
The shrine is a notified Waqf property and has now been brought under the direct management of the J&K Waqf Board as a dedicated spiritual and public-faith space.
Following the takeover, Dr Andrabi reviewed the existing infrastructure and arrangements for devotees and visitors. She directed officials to prepare a comprehensive development plan focusing on upgrading facilities, improving sanitation and cleanliness, and strengthening the overall management of the shrine.
She stressed that all Waqf-managed shrines and religious places should provide devotees with a clean, dignified, accessible and spiritually conducive environment while preserving their religious and cultural heritage.
“Our endeavour is to ensure that every Waqf shrine becomes a well-managed spiritual space where devotees receive better facilities while the religious and cultural legacy of these sacred places is preserved with utmost care,” Dr Andrabi said.
She also met local representatives and public delegates to discuss infrastructure needs, shrine management and facilities for devotees. She assured them that genuine concerns would be examined and addressed in a time-bound manner.
Dr Andrabi directed the concerned officers to maintain close coordination with local stakeholders and ensure that the proposed development plan takes into account both the needs of devotees and the historical and spiritual significance of the shrine.
