Water crisis hits Ompora says AIP’s Hubbi

July 12, 2026 | BK News Service

Budgam, July 11: Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Senior Leader Javed Hubi has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to take immediate steps to resolve the acute drinking water shortage affecting several localities in Ompora, Budgam.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Hubi said that residents of Railway Colony, Hajam Mohalla, Parayangan, and Bazar Mohalla have been facing an acute scarcity of potable water for a considerable period, forcing them to struggle for their daily water needs.
He said the authorities had assured the public that the issue would be resolved, but the promises remain unfulfilled. The continued shortage has caused immense hardship, particularly to women, children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable sections of society, especially during the ongoing summer season.
Hubi appealed to the Government and the Jal Shakti Department to immediately restore a regular and adequate drinking water supply to the affected areas and ensure that the long-pending issue is addressed without any further delay.
He stressed that access to safe drinking water is a basic necessity and called upon the administration to act swiftly to provide relief to the affected residents. He expressed hope that the Government would honor its commitments and take prompt and effective measures to end the water crisis in Ompora.
