Healthy developments indicating towards positive global order and generate hope for peaceful resolution of vexed and long-standing issues
Economic and development related interests of countries are converging in a more symbiotic manner in present times. Hence organizations based purely on religion have to change their outlook and align with the new global dynamics based on national interests. Gone are the days when countries aligned with each other on basis of religion alone. The Armenia- Azerbaijan and Russia- Ukraine wars are examples of the emerging trends in international relations that are increasingly being based on economy, trade, fuel security, diaspora and cultural issues. Even the Islamic nations are coming closer to their earlier adversaries like Israel. These are healthy developments indicating towards positive global order and generate hope for peaceful resolution of vexed and long-standing issues. OIC, a platform with noble intent too must adopt a modern and secular approach to bring harmony between countries. It is also important that countries like Pakistan do not misuse such important platforms to generate hatred on name of Kashmir and Palestine. Also, forums like OIC should not be exploited by countries like China to try and fish in troubled waters. Is it not an irony that a country which blatantly suppresses and persecutes Uyghur Muslims gets an opportunity to talk on the platform of OIC? Or for that matter Pakistan where suicide attackers kill Shias in a Masjid or Ahmedias in their homes or a Sri Lankan in the streets?
This time around, Pakistan used this platform to as usual bleat for Kashmir, beg for alms and to gain some brownie points before the impending No Confidence Motion. In the OIC meet, PM of Pakistan also said that after 9/11, Islamic countries failed to address and mitigate the issue of Islamophobia. Apparently, Pakistan is hyping up the matter because the real problem is "Pakistanophobia”? Pakistan has got completely exposed as the epicenter of terrorism and lost the trust of world community. The FATF is not exonerating Pakistan because essential conditions to address terror funding have not been met due to pressure from powerful radical organisations inside Pakistan. Its economy is in tatters and it has no other way to survive but to beg for loans. These loans are being offered on tough and often humiliating terms due to Pakistan's image, standing and Pakistanophobia. This is hurting Pakistan hence, in the garb of Islamophobia, what Pakistan is trying to cover actually is the Pakistanophobia. And then comes the rhetoric of Kashmir.... the joke is that Pakistan will raise the issue of Kashmir even in meets on environment and technology. This is a broken record that must be played by every man or woman at the helm in Pakistan for self-survival. Even with the financial mess or the terrorist situation or the beating by TTP or the hammering by Baloch Freedom fighters or border clashes with Afghanistan or the rising voices of people of Gilgit-Baltistan or killing of Shias and Ahmedias or the muffled voices of women or by FATF humiliation or by diplomatic embarrassments, Pakistani establishment continues to hide itself behind the forbidden fruit of Kashmir. Gulf countries are investing big money in Kashmir and their representatives were in Kashmir at the time when OIC meet was going on. This itself shows the support India has for Kashmir.
Peace, stability and development is aimed by all nations in today's world. Only failing countries like Pakistan try to whip up religious sentiments to achieve short term political goals and limp a few more steps before collapse.
It for Kashmiris to understand that Pakistan does not have any Nobel intentions in Kashmir. Kashmir issue is just the wood that is used to keep the fire of survival on by Pakistan. Pakistan will keep killing Kashmiris to keep the pot boiling by lobbing grenades and shooting. Only thing that can stop this is people's power. So, let us light a candle or hold a placard to condemn violence.... let us make a start.
