Respected Qaid-e-Azam,
As Pakistan celebrates 75 years of its existence by emptying its begging bowl, I do not have any rosy picture to share. You had dreamed of Pakistan to be an Islamic Democratic State, totally secular in nature but soon after you left for heavenly abode, minorities including Hindus, Shias and Ahmedia communities were converted and their religious sites attacked with impunity. By some magic, the Hindu population that constituted nearly 20 percent are now only around 1.6 percent. In your Independence Day speech you had said that bribery and corruption were like poisons and the new Pakistan must stay away from these; however, soon after you left, these poisons became deeply infused in Pakistani society. People who came in power sucked the exchequer dry and made properties abroad; politicians and generals alike. Leave the exchequer, those in power also gobbled up billions of dollars from the CPEC and loans received from other countries. You had spoken against nepotism but the dynastic politics has reached such level that at one point of time, son of the Prime Minister was the Chief Minister of the largest province. The tainted brother of the Prime Minister is sitting in England running the political show and his daughter is in the beeline to become a Prime Minister someday. The son in law and anglicised grandson of the ex prime minister who was murdered judicially by being hanged till death are also waiting for the right opportunity to stake the claim for the highest chair. And these otherwise sworn enemies have got together to push out a maverick cricketer turned politician because he could garner significant public support......hilarious!!
Forget secularism that you had recommended, the opportunist politicians and martial law administrators frequently used the religion card for survival and to appease the mullahs. Resultantly, the education system remained rudimentary. Today when India boasts of having its Diaspora on enviable positions on the world stage, Pakistanis are looked at with suspicion. It is because apart from the religious card, those in power also used terrorism as an instrument of national power and all wires of terrorism including the dastardly 9/11 end in Pakistan hence Pakistani are treated as terrorists abroad.
To achieve strategic depth in Afghanistan, Pakistan created Taliban that defeated the Russians first and then the Americans.... but the Frankenstein monster has come back in form of TTP and is hitting the Army hard. You as a lawyer had fought and won a legal case on behalf of the Khan of Kalat for declaring Balochistan an independent country but you only later usurped it treacherously. Years of neglect and oppression havenow led Balochis to the path of resistance and they too are targeting the Army and Chinese.
You were right in understanding that the North West Frontier Province will never be able to integrate in Pakistan. It is because the Pashtuns have been unjustly divided by the Durand Line. They are now calling for unification of Pashtun lands. Sindhudesh is asking for freedom and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir wants to merge with India. Overall, your comment that you had been given a moth-eaten Pakistan is correct. Moth eaten cloth eventually tears apart from the weak spots. The first weak spot detached itself in 1971 and Balochistan, Sindh, Khaibar Pakhtunkwa and POK are just hanging with slender threads.
Pakistan is on the verge of default and is begging around the world for alms. Its international standing is in tatters, inflation is at 25 percent, dollar is at 222 Rupees, the public debt is at around 50 Billion Pakistani Rupees and the FATF grey list continues. The zoo at Lahore is selling its lions due to funds crunch, the embassies of Pakistan are shutting down due to lack of money and half the population could not sacrifice a goat during Eid because of exorbitant prices. But, the budget of Army is ever increasing....why because Army has been selling the story of India’s threat and dream of Kashmir.
Overall sir, your two nation theory has failed badly and breakup of East Pakistan was its first proof. Now that Pakistan is nearing a civil war like situation with all stake holders pulling the country in different directions, I wonder if you had thought of the consequences of your decision to create Pakistan. It was not a rocket science to understand that Pakistan was a flawed concept where people would have no national character, no common aspirations or shared sense of history and culture. Its citizens today suffer from an identity crisis....they are neither Mughals, nor Turkish nor Arabs. They are actually Indians in all senses including language, culture, traditions and values. Pakistanis are accepting it now on TV shows openly. Why couldn’t you see it?
Sir, why did you create this country which was destined to become an epicentre of terrorism?
