Srinagar, Oct 11: A woman died after jumping from a three-storey house engulfed in a fire in the Noor Bagh area of old Srinagar city on Sunday, as she attempted to escape the blaze.

The deceased was identified as Haleema Akhtar, wife of Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh. She sustained injuries after jumping from the burning house and was rushed to SMHS Hospital for treatment, where she later succumbed.
The fire broke out in the three-storey residential building, prompting a response from the Fire and Emergency Services Department. Firefighters, assisted by locals, worked to bring the flames under control and extinguish the fire.
The circumstances leading to the outbreak of the fire and the extent of damage to the building were not immediately known.
