Baramulla, April 5: A woman was killed and man sustained critical injuries after a vehicle in which they were travelling plunged into a nallah in the Uri area of Baramulla district on Sunday.

Officials said a Mahindra XUV300 bearing registration number JK09C-1649, which was travelling from Uri towards Nambla, met with an accident near Syedpora bridge.
The vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into the Hajipeer Nallah, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to the vehicle driver,” they said.
Immediately after the incident, local residents, volunteer team Nambla, and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
During the rescue operation, the body of a woman was recovered from the nallah, while the injured driver was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Mubeena Bano, daughter of Kabir Ahmad Parray, a resident of Balkote while the injured has been identified as Sajad Tariq, son of Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Nowpora Karnah.
A police official said a case has been registered and investigation taken up.
