The NSS Wing of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) today organised an awareness programme on Women Empowerment, here.
The awareness programme attended by a large number of female students started with the introductory address by the Principal, Prof (Dr) Asmat.
Prof (Dr) Asmat impressed upon the female students to be assertive, ambitious and well aware of all the schemes aimed at their empowerment.
In her keynote address, Dr Humaira, resource person, gave a detailed description about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
Ruqaya Ashraf, Women Welfare Officer, DHEW, Srinagar gave a description of various facilities aimed at empowering women which include among other things free legal and medical aid.
