Attending the 60th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva was not just a diplomatic engagement — it was a deeply personal and emotional journey. Standing before the global community, I shared the painful memories of my shattered childhood and the immense suffering my family endured — a suffering rooted in Pakistan-sponsored terrorism that has scarred countless lives across Jammu and Kashmir.
Today, my heart aches as I witness the horrifying reality unfolding in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The people there are not demanding luxuries or privileges; they are on the streets demanding the most fundamental of human rights — dignity, justice, and freedom. Instead of responding with compassion, the Pakistani state has unleashed its military might upon them. Harassment, intimidation, and torture at the hands of the Pakistan Army have become daily realities.
It is shameful that even after repeated admonishments by the international community, Pakistan remains defiant. Its institutional machinery continues to export terrorism across the border into my homeland, while simultaneously tormenting our brothers and sisters in PoJK. This state-sponsored terrorism against its own people — people who are resilient, courageous, and unbroken in their pursuit of justice — will ultimately fail.
Let it be loud and clear to the Pakistani establishment: the world is watching. Your brutality is being documented, your lies are being exposed, and the days of your oppression are numbered. The voices rising from PoJK cannot be silenced by bullets or fear.
My heart goes out to every protester in PoJK who dares to stand up against the tyranny of occupiers. Their courage is a testament to the unyielding human spirit. I appeal to the global community — governments, human rights bodies, and citizens of conscience — to wake up and take action. It is time for the world to stand united against oppression and support the rightful struggle of the people of PoJK for freedom, dignity, and justice.
