
Kashmiri ace female cricketer Jasiya Akhter is scheduled to play for Delhi Capitals after the Delhi club won the bid for the cricketer for Rs 20 Lakhs.
A resident of Braripora in Shopian district of south Kashmir, Jasiya’s purchase was confirmed by Delhi Capitals over their official Twitter handle on Monday (February 13, 2023).
Two players from Jammu Kashmir—Jasiya Akhter and Sarla Devi—appear on the list of 409 cricketers who were sold at auction to five franchises on February 13.
Jasiya figures at serial 250 while Sarla is at serial 305 in the WPL auction list of players which was released on Tuesday.

Jasia Akhtar, a resident of Braripora village, some 63 kms south of Srinagar – the Kashmir’s region’s main city, made her foray into women's T20 cricket in 2019 when the she found a place in the Women's T20 Challenge Squads for an upcoming tournament announced by the Board for Control of Cricket in India.
Akhter used to be an athlete before she was introduced to cricket by an athletic coach.
