
Guwahati, June 22: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 across the Northeastern region with enthusiastic participation from soldiers, families, veterans, students and members of local communities.
A series of yoga sessions were organised at military stations, educational institutions and prominent locations across Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura and Mizoram, highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health.
In Manipur, yoga programmes were conducted at Leimakhong Military Station, Andro, Sanasabi and Sendra. Similar events were held in Agartala, Tripura, while in Assam, large gatherings participated in sessions organised at Srikona, Silchar, Haflong and Dinjan.
Arunachal Pradesh witnessed celebrations at several iconic locations, including Parashuram Kund, Golden Pagoda, Tezu, Walong, Pangsau Pass and Changlang. In Nagaland, yoga events were organised at Mon, Shamator, Noklak, Tuensang, Kiphire and Mokokchung.
Extensive participation was also recorded in Mizoram, where yoga sessions were conducted at Aizawl, Zokhawsang, Serchhip, Champhai, Lawngtlai, Lunglei, Parva and Siaha.
Officials said the events were aimed at promoting awareness about the benefits of yoga and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among people of all age groups. Participants performed various yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques under the guidance of trained instructors.
The celebrations reflected the Indian Army's commitment to fostering physical fitness, mental resilience and community engagement while spreading the message of harmony, discipline and wellness across the region.
