Srinagar, June 26: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Sandeep Chakraborty on Friday issued a security advisory ahead of Youm-e-Ashoora, urging the public to strictly follow guidelines to ensure the peaceful and smooth observance of the occasion.

The SSP appealed to mourners, organisers, and the general public to cooperate with security forces and adhere to established protocols during processions and gatherings across the city.
He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, avoiding congestion, and following designated routes to ensure uninterrupted movement and public safety.
Police officials said adequate security arrangements were put in place across Srinagar, particularly along procession routes, sensitive locations, and crowded areas, to maintain law and order and facilitate smooth observance of Muharram events.
The advisory also urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to nearby police personnel or control rooms.
Authorities reiterated that the objective of the security arrangements was to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and incident-free observance of Youm-e-Ashoora in Srinagar.
Officials further stated that coordination between police, civil administration, and volunteers played a key role in maintaining peace and ensuring smooth conduct of religious processions across the city.
The SSP expressed gratitude to the public for their continued cooperation and urged them to uphold communal harmony and discipline during the observance.
