Srinagar, June 22: As the sacred month of Muharram is on , a young devotee from Gawkadal in Srinagar has touched hearts with a moving appeal to the faithful, urging them to dedicate the days of mourning to remembering the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and the Ahlul Bayt (AS).
Muhammad Mustafa Bhat, fondly known in his locality as a “Little Azadaar,” has called upon people to set aside their personal hardships and immerse themselves in the message of Karbala during Muharram.
Speaking with deep reverence for the martyrs of Karbala, Mustafa said that Muharram is not merely a period of mourning but a time to reflect on the unparalleled sacrifices made by Imam Hussain (AS), his family members and companions in the cause of truth, justice and humanity.
“Forget your personal sorrows and remember the sacrifices and grief of Ahlul Bayt (AS),” Mustafa said, urging devotees to strengthen their spiritual connection with the teachings of Karbala.
He emphasized that the tragedy of Karbala continues to inspire people across generations, teaching lessons of patience, courage, sacrifice and steadfastness in the face of oppression. According to him, the values upheld by Imam Hussain (AS) remain relevant in every era and serve as a guiding light for humanity.
The young mourner encouraged children and youth to actively participate in Majalis, religious gatherings and Azadari programmes to better understand the significance of Muharram and the message of sacrifice associated with it.
Residents of Gawkadal and nearby areas praised Mustafa’s devotion and maturity, saying that his heartfelt message reflects the deep-rooted love and respect that Kashmir’s people have for the Ahlul Bayt (AS). Many described his words as a reminder of the spiritual essence of Muharram and the importance of preserving the values of compassion, unity and justice.
Religious scholars have often highlighted that Muharram is a time for self-reflection and renewal of faith. The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) at Karbala is regarded as one of history’s greatest examples of standing for truth and resisting tyranny, a message that continues to resonate across communities and cultures.
As preparations for Muharram gain momentum across Kashmir, Mustafa’s appeal has struck a chord with many devotees. His message serves as a powerful reminder that the remembrance of Karbala is not limited by age and that even the youngest members of society can play a meaningful role in keeping alive the legacy of Imam Hussain (AS) and the Ahlul Bayt (AS).
The young Azadaar’s words have inspired many to approach the holy month with greater devotion, humility and commitment to the timeless principles that emerged from the plains of Karbala more than fourteen centuries ago.
