Nagrota, April 5: MLA Nagrota Devyani Rana today launched the second edition of the Youth Training & Employment Drive aimed at equipping local youth with skills for careers in the hotel and hospitality sector. The programme commenced at TRT Community Hall, Nagrota, and has been organised in collaboration with ARC Hospitality as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen skill development and employment avenues for young people.

The session witnessed participation from 100 aspiring candidates in the 18–27 age group. Shortlisted participants will undergo a comprehensive 45-day training programme offered free of cost, focusing on key hospitality competencies, personality development, communication skills, and professional preparedness. Upon successful completion, candidates will be assisted with placement opportunities in reputed hotels within Jammu & Kashmir as well as across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Rana underscored the importance of aligning youth aspirations with industry requirements and encouraged participants to actively invest in skill enhancement to remain competitive in today’s job market. She noted that the hospitality industry continues to present promising career prospects with scope for long-term growth and exposure.
“Success today depends on one’s willingness to learn and evolve,” she said. “Our youth must seize such opportunities to develop their capabilities and step confidently into professional spaces. With proper guidance and dedication, they can establish strong careers not only within the Union Territory but nationwide. I envision the youth of Nagrota and Jammu & Kashmir becoming skilled professionals who make a meaningful impact.”
Reaffirming her commitment to youth empowerment, Ms. Rana highlighted the need for sustained initiatives that connect education with employability. She appreciated the role of ARC Hospitality in creating a structured platform that nurtures talent and expands job prospects for local youth and the administrative support extended by Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrant). Contributions of local community leaders were also recognised for their efforts in mobilising and engaging youth participation.
Also addressing the participants, Ms. Chitwan Khorana, CEO of ARC Hospitality, spoke about the organisation’s focus on bridging skill gaps in the hospitality sector and preparing candidates for real-world opportunities.
“The hospitality industry is expanding rapidly, and there is a growing demand for trained professionals,” Ms. Khorana said. “Through focused training and mentorship, we aim to enable young individuals to access stable and rewarding careers. We are glad to collaborate with leaders like Ms. Devyani Rana who are committed to youth development.”
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where industry experts briefed participants on career pathways, workplace expectations, and the importance of discipline and professionalism in the hospitality sector.
