Authorities have allowed senior political leader and former legislator Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami to visit New Delhi for medical checkup.
Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami is under house arrest at his Gupkar based official residence here in Kashmir capital Srinagar. Hundreds of political leaders and activists have been detained after Government of India abrogated special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of August this year.
His party had knocked the doors of Supreme Court challenging the house arrest after which the top court allowed CPI (M) General Secretary Sita Ram Yechurithe to meet him in person at his residence.
Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami told Kashmir News Trust that he will fly to New Delhi on Thursday for medical checkup at All India Institute of Medical Sciences. “Authorities allowed me and I am leaving for Delhi on Thursday,” he said.
In response to question, Tarigami said that he doesn’t know when he will be released. (KNT)
