Noorbagh residents aghast over shortage of power supply

December 03, 2021 | BK News Service

People in Guzarbal Noorbagh area of old city are aghast over the failure of the authorities to provide proper power supply to them during the prevailing cold weather conditions.

Locals alleged that in this digital age they are facing acute electricity shortage from the last one year.

A group of people said that usually these kinds of problems emerge in the area in winter months.

The locals alleged that REC techno, who has received contracts for the installation of transformers, wires and meters in the area, failed to get the same done within stipulated time and no action has been initiated by the PDD officials.

“We have been in complete darkness for the last one year. It is pathetic. The administration has failed to provide the basic facilities to the people. Our children are suffering,” locals said.

“The erratic power supply is more annoying than having no electricity at all,” Javid Ahmad, a local resident.

They alleged PDD of ignoring their sufferings.

“As soon as the winter approaches, the electricity starts playing hide and seek here in the valley, however our area has no electricity at all” Mudasir Gul, a shopkeeper said.

Students of the area in particular also expressed resentment against the PDD department.

The Students said, “We are the worst sufferers. Our exams are going but we are not able to study. How can we compete with other districts?”

The concerned officers of PDD department when contacted by the news agency said that as per the contract, wires and meters have been installed but meters are yet to be installed in the area and nothing has been done so far by the REC techno.

The residents pleaded to the higher authorities to look into the matter and solve their grievances so that they can take a sigh of relief.
