In the wake of killings in Kashmir, the security grid across valley has been tightened and police and paramilitary forces are leaving no stone unturned to fill the gaps if any as evident by the frisking and seizure of two wheelers in Srinagar for last two days with hundreds of drivers who had issues with documents attempting to get their seized vehicles from local police stations. There has been strict instruction to frisk vehicles across Kashmir so that elements inimical to peace are brought to book and those responsible for the recent killings are arrested and the chain of killings is broken. With migrant workers rushing back home while the government doing its best to stop and reassure them about their security and safety there has been some reprieve from the push to move outside slowing down. The security forces are being tasked to carry out cordon and search at any spot they suspect to harbor anti-nationals while strict directions have also been issued that no innocent civilian is harassed or harmed during the crackdown in any area of Kashmir. The UT administration has made it clear as LG Manoj Sinha himself making it clear that no effort would be spared to bring perpetrators to justice. The seriousness of the issue could be sensed by the fact that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the recent spate of killings and how the ministry is dealing with the situation firmly. In his addresses to multiple gatherings or occasions during last three years, PM Modi has categorically advocated that peace and development should take precedence over conflict and the violence and killings have no place in harmonious society in Jammu and Kashmir where he had observed the living when he stayed in residence of local in Budgam as narrated by him. Peace is what every citizen of Kashmir or Jammu wants to live and let live as the recent killings saw locals trying to soothe anxious nerves of outsiders who were fearful of their lives. The outsiders contribution to labour, education, business or other sectors is immense with the kind of zeal and dedication they put in and their leaving in huff would send wrong signal across globe because globally it is accepted norm to rely on migrant workers on daily works and providing them security and solace is the need of the hour.
