Ganderbal, June 29: The Rajbhasha Cell of the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) on Monday organized a one-day workshop on "Role of IT Tools in Progress of Rajbhasha Hindi" for administrative staff at the Tulmulla campus.
Incharge Registrar Prof. D.K. Madaan highlighted the University's continued efforts to promote Rajbhasha under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath. He described language as a key instrument of national integration and efficient governance, emphasizing that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes regional, national, and international languages equally. He also stressed the need for bilingual digital tools and software to strengthen official work in Hindi.
Rajbhasha expert and IIHM Advisor Dr. Rajiv Singh said the promotion of Hindi should complement India's multilingual character rather than replace other languages. He noted that digital platforms for Hindi typing, translation, and official correspondence have made Rajbhasha implementation more accessible.
University Librarian Dr. Nazir Ahmad highlighted the role of technologies such as Unicode, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), bilingual keyboards, AI-based translation tools, speech recognition, and virtual language platforms in simplifying multilingual communication. He appreciated employees for actively participating in Hindi training programmes.
Controller of Examinations Prof. Kaisar Javed said proficiency in Hindi enhances administrative efficiency and supports bilingual communication in government institutions. He also informed participants about ongoing research on multilingual translation systems involving Kashmiri, Hindi, and English.
Hindi Adhikari Dr. Sakeena Akhter presented an overview of the University's Rajbhasha initiatives, stating that nearly 70 percent of employees have completed Hindi training programmes and are effectively using Hindi in official correspondence.
Deputy Registrar Abdul Rashid Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. During the technical session, Dr. Rajiv Singh demonstrated various IT-enabled language tools and AI platforms for promoting the use of Hindi in official work.
