Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday held a protest in Srinagar against the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
While speaking to media persons Mehbooba condemned the gruesome attack and extended an apology to the people of India on behalf of the people of Kashmir.
"The attack that happened yesterday is not only an attack on innocent tourists, it is also an attack on Kashmiriyat. We condemn this. It will not be tolerated," she said.
She urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is presently in Kashmir, to ensure immediate identification and punishment of the perpetrators. “The Home Minister is here; he should be finding out the people involved so that punishment is given as soon as possible.”
Calling the attack a cowardly act, she said, “People come here to have a good time. It is a cowardly attack. I want to say to the people of the country that we are ashamed, Kashmir is ashamed. We are standing with you in this time of crisis.”
"There should be strict action. I want to apologise to the people of our country," Mehbooba added.
