In a continued effort to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking from the district, Anantnag Police have apprehended four drug peddlers in two separate operations, recovering a substantial quantity of narcotic substances.
During routine Naka checking at Gund Baba Khalil, a police party from Police Post Sangam intercepted a Santro vehicle bearing registration number JK13A 5700. The vehicle was being driven by Mohd Ayouib Kumar, son of Habibullah Kumar, resident of Waghama, accompanied by Javid Ahmad Kumar, son of Gh Hassan Kumar, also a resident of Waghama.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police party recovered approximately 21 kilograms of raw narcotic material, including cannabis seeds. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara. The vehicle was seized and both accused were arrested on the spot. Further investigation is in progress.
In a separate incident police party from Police Station Bijbehara apprehended two individuals riding a motorcycle at Zirpara near GDC Bijbehara, who were found in possession of Charas-like narcotic substance weighing approximately 128 grams.
The accused have been identified as Sahil Ahmad Khanday, son of Abdul Hameed Khanday, resident of Zirpara, and Amir Sohail, son of Mohd Ashraf Teli, resident of Karewa Colony, Bijbehara.
In this regard case under the NDPS Act has been registered and both individuals have been taken into custody. Investigation is ongoing.
