Assam Rifles holds ‘Know your Soldier’ outreach

July 30, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Kohima, July 30: In a bid to strengthen civil-military relations and deepen engagement with local communities, the Assam Rifles organised a "Know Your Soldier" awareness programme at Choklangan Village in Nagaland on July 29.
The outreach initiative was aimed at enhancing public understanding of the role, responsibilities and humanitarian contributions of the Assam Rifles while fostering trust, cooperation and mutual respect between the security forces and the local population.
During the interactive session, Army personnel highlighted the diverse responsibilities of the Assam Rifles, including safeguarding the nation's borders, maintaining internal security, supporting civil administration during emergencies and contributing to developmental and welfare activities in remote areas.
The programme also showcased the force's sustained efforts in organising medical camps, educational initiatives, disaster relief operations, youth engagement programmes and community welfare activities across the Northeast.
Villagers were encouraged to interact freely with the soldiers, enabling them to gain first-hand insight into the challenges and responsibilities of military life. The interactive discussions helped dispel misconceptions and reinforced the importance of cooperation between civilians and security forces in maintaining peace and stability.
Officials emphasised that lasting peace and development can only be achieved through active community participation, mutual trust and continuous dialogue between the Armed Forces and the people.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from village elders, youth and local residents, who appreciated the initiative and welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with Assam Rifles personnel.
The programme concluded with a reaffirmation of the Assam Rifles' commitment to strengthening people-centric initiatives and nurturing enduring civil-military relations through meaningful outreach, community engagement and nation-building efforts.
