Jammu, July 31: The Jammu, Srinagar National Highway, NH 44, remained closed for all categories of traffic on Friday as road restoration work continued on the damaged stretch between Jakheni in Udhampur district and Gangroo in the Banihal area of Ramban district.
Traffic Police said restoration teams were working at several vulnerable locations along the highway where recent landslides and shooting stones had damaged the road.
Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling on the highway until it is declared safe and officially reopened for traffic.
The Traffic Police also appealed to the public not to rely on rumours regarding the highway's status and urged people to follow updates issued only through official communication channels.
