Jalukie, Nov 5: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland, and Recovery Wellness Society, organised Breaking the Silence 4.0, an awareness campaign on mental health and substance abuse, at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, on November 4.
The programme aimed to sensitise students and local youth about mental health challenges, substance abuse and the importance of seeking timely support. It also focused on breaking social stigma and encouraging open conversations around emotional well-being and addiction.
Brigadier Vikas Bahuguna, Deputy Inspector General, IGAR (North), attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
The campaign featured special appearances by Bahun Nongrum, Miss Divine Beauty India 2026; Lovikali Swu, Miss Grand India Nagaland 2026; and rapper and lyricist ZT Slingshot.
Through their interaction with students and young participants, the guests encouraged positive choices, self-confidence and a healthy lifestyle. Their participation also helped draw attention to the need for greater awareness and community involvement in addressing mental health and substance-related issues.
The organisers emphasised that stigma and silence often prevent individuals from seeking help, making awareness and community support essential in tackling these challenges.
The initiative reaffirmed Assam Rifles' commitment to youth welfare and community engagement, while promoting a supportive environment where mental health concerns and substance abuse can be addressed without fear or discrimination.
