Srinagar, Nov 6: National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah has rejected reports of a possible split in the party, terming the claims baseless.
Abdullah made the remarks after holding a meeting with party legislators who had raised concerns over various issues at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's residence in Srinagar.
He said the National Conference remains united and organised, asserting that there has been no division within the party.
According to Abdullah, the legislators' concerns were discussed in detail during the meeting, with all sides given an opportunity to put forward their issues.
He said the government would take steps to address genuine concerns, with some matters expected to be resolved immediately while others would require more time.
Abdullah also said efforts to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would continue. He reiterated the party's position on Article 370 and Article 35-A.
NC leader Nazir Gurezi also dismissed reports that a separate political group had emerged from the National Conference.
Gurezi said party leaders and legislators regularly raise their concerns with the leadership and clarified that a recent meeting among some legislators had been exaggerated on social media as the formation of a new party.
He said the legislators had raised both political and other concerns before Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah, who assured them that the issues would be addressed.
Gurezi said some matters would be taken up immediately, while others would be resolved gradually.
