Champhai, Sep 9: The Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture on International Literacy Day at Champhai, Mizoram, on September 8, highlighting the importance of education and literacy as essential tools for empowerment and social development.

The programme brought together 45 students and three teachers from Agape School, Champhai, who actively participated in the session and engaged in discussions on the significance of literacy in shaping individual and community development.
During the lecture, participants were sensitised to the role of literacy in expanding opportunities, enhancing awareness and enabling individuals to make informed decisions. The session also emphasised that education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge but an important foundation for building confident, responsible and empowered citizens.
The participants were encouraged to recognise education as a fundamental right and to contribute towards creating a more educated and aware society. The interaction also underlined the importance of ensuring that every child has access to quality education and opportunities to develop their potential.
The students and teachers actively participated in the awareness programme and pledged to promote the value of education within their communities.
