Guwahati, Sep 17: Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and State Police, conducted three separate joint counter-narcotics operations in Assam and Tripura, recovering Yaba tablets valued at approximately ₹425.08 crore.

The operations were carried out in Hailakandi in Assam and Khowai and North Tripura, targeting suspected inter-state and trans-border drug trafficking networks operating across the region.
The seizures represent a major intervention against the movement of synthetic drugs and highlight continued efforts by security and enforcement agencies to disrupt narcotics supply chains in the Northeast.
Acting on coordinated intelligence and operational inputs, the joint teams conducted targeted operations at the identified locations and recovered large quantities of Yaba tablets. The estimated value of the seized contraband was placed at approximately ₹425.08 crore.
The operations also underline the importance of inter-agency coordination in tackling organised narcotics trafficking, particularly in areas vulnerable to cross-border movement of drugs.
Assam Rifles said the seizures reflect the force’s continued commitment to counter-narcotics operations and its efforts to safeguard communities from the harmful effects of drug trafficking.
The coordinated action by Assam Rifles, DRI and State Police is expected to further disrupt networks involved in the transportation and distribution of synthetic drugs across state and international routes.
Security and enforcement agencies have been intensifying operations against narcotics trafficking in the Northeast, with a focus on intelligence-based action, inter-agency coordination and disruption of supply chains.
The latest seizures reaffirm the resolve of the participating agencies to combat the drug trade and contribute towards the broader objective of a Narcotics-Free India.
