
Imphal, July 21: Assam Rifles successfully conducted an Advanced Drone Training Course at the Drone Training Node (DTN), Modi, in Chandel district of Manipur, to enhance the operational capabilities of its personnel in the use of advanced unmanned aerial systems.
The two-week course, held from July 6 to 19, saw the participation of 28 personnel drawn from various Assam Rifles units. The specialised training was designed to equip participants with the skills required to effectively deploy advanced drones for surveillance, reconnaissance and mission support in diverse operational environments.
The curriculum combined classroom instruction with extensive practical sessions, enabling trainees to gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience under realistic field conditions. Participants were trained in drone handling, flight operations, mission planning, aerial surveillance techniques and the application of unmanned systems in modern security operations.
Officials said the programme was aimed at strengthening operational preparedness by integrating emerging technologies into field operations, thereby improving situational awareness, intelligence gathering and response capabilities.
The training forms part of Assam Rifles' continuous efforts to modernise its operational framework and prepare personnel to meet evolving security challenges through the effective use of cutting-edge technology.
Senior officials lauded the successful completion of the course and reiterated the force's commitment to capacity building and technological advancement to enhance mission effectiveness in the Northeast.
