Leh, July 22: Fresh snowfall was recorded at Wari La Pass on the Nubra–Pangong route in Ladakh on Wednesday, highlighting the region's unpredictable high-altitude weather, where snow can fall even in the peak of summer.
The snowfall blanketed the mountain pass and surrounding peaks in white, with a fresh layer of snow covering parts of the road. The sudden change in weather also brought a noticeable drop in temperatures.
Located at an altitude of over 17,000 feet above sea level, Wari La Pass is known for its rapidly changing weather conditions, where clear skies can quickly turn into snowfall or rain, even during the summer months.
The latest snowfall once again reflects the challenging weather that frequently affects Ladakh's high mountain passes, particularly during periods of shifting atmospheric conditions.
Authorities have advised tourists and motorists travelling on the Nubra–Pangong route to remain cautious, monitor weather updates, and avoid unnecessary travel during poor visibility or slippery road conditions.
No immediate reports of road closures or traffic disruptions were received following the snowfall.
