
BJP Suspends Nine Anantnag Office Bearers Over Unauthorized Tiranga Rally
Srinagar, August 7: The BJP District Unit Anantnag has suspended nine office bearers and stripped them of all party responsibilities with immediate effect for allegedly organizing and participating in an unauthorized Tiranga rally in the district.
According to an official order issued by District President Rakesh Koul, the rally was held at Housing Colony Khanabal on August 5 without prior approval from either the BJP District Unit or the district administration.
The party also took serious note of alleged objectionable and derogatory remarks against women made during the event. The order stated that such conduct was inconsistent with the party's values, discipline and organizational principles.
The decision was taken after consultations with State General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, State General Secretary Anwar Khan, State Spokesperson and Anantnag Prabhari Altaf Thakur, along with the BJP District Core Committee of Anantnag.
The suspended office bearers are Nisar Ahmad Bhat, District General Secretary, Khursheed Ahmad Sofi, District Secretary, Aabida Rafiq, District Secretary and former District Vice President, Irshad Ahmad Malik, Constituency President Shangus, Mohd Maqbool Ganie, Waheed Ahmad Itoo, Constituency President Pahalgam, Nisar Ahmad Hakeem, District Secretary, Feroz Ahmad Hajam, District Secretary of Kisan Morcha, and Sabrooza Akhter, District Secretary of Mahila Morcha.
The party has also suspended their primary membership pending the outcome of a further inquiry.
The order further clarified that Alveer Ahmad Dar of Batengoo and Fancy Akhter of Hangulgund Kokernag are not associated with the BJP District Unit Anantnag and do not hold any organizational position within the party.
