Border Villages Are Frontline Of India's Identity: LG On Kathua Visit

August 21, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Kathua, August 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday visited Karol Krishna, a border village in Kathua district covered under the Vibrant Villages Programme.

During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor described border settlements as the starting point of the nation rather than its final frontier.

“I always believe that this land is not India’s last village but it is India’s first village and the gateway where our nation begins,” Sinha said.

He said border villages represent the frontline of India’s identity and highlighted the development initiatives being undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Lieutenant Governor, border areas that were once considered peripheral are increasingly becoming part of the region’s development priorities.

He said improvements in basic infrastructure, including roads, electricity, telecommunications and education, have expanded access to essential services for residents of border villages.

The visit was part of the administration’s continued focus on development and connectivity in border areas under the Vibrant Villages Programme.
