Muzaffarpur, July 26:BR Ambedkar Bihar University has been allotted the hosting rights for the East Zone Inter-University Men’s Badminton Championship for the 2026-27 session. With this, the university will organise three different East Zone inter-university sporting events in three successive years.
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has released the sports calendar for 2026-27, assigning 222 events across various sports to universities across the country. Only two universities from Bihar have been given the responsibility of hosting East Zone inter-university competitions this year.
In 2024, BRABU hosted the East Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship, the first East Zone inter-university event the university organised after a gap of 17 years. The following year it successfully conducted the East Zone Inter-University Volleyball Championship.
Expressing joy, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai said, “It is a matter of pride for BR Ambedkar Bihar University that we have been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting the East Zone Inter-University Men’s Badminton Championship. We are proud to be one of only two universities in Bihar selected to host an East Zone event. The successful organisation of the women’s basketball and volleyball championships in the previous two years has strengthened our credentials. We are fully prepared to organise this prestigious national-level event in a befitting manner and will ensure all necessary arrangements for the participating teams.”

We are committed to making this championship a memorable experience for every participant and further elevating the university’s standing in the field of university sports. More than 50 universities from the East Zone are expected to send their players for the championship. Under the leadership of Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, the university has already begun preparations to make the event successful, grand and exemplary.
Notable figures congratulating the university administration for setting this high sporting benchmark include Prof. BSRai, Prof. Kanupriya, Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Dr. Ashok Sah, Dr. Shartendu Shekhar, and Dr. Navin Kumar, among others.
